Becoming a c:card point
If your organisation is interested in becoming a c:card point there are a number of issues to consider.
If after reading this section you would like to apply to become a c:card point please contact us for an application pack.
Which type of c:card point are you?
The first thing to consider is which type of c:card point is suitable for your organisation.
There are two types of c:card point:

is for people aged 16 and over who want free condoms

is for people aged 13-15 as well as people aged 16 and over. Plus other services like pregnancy testing and contraception may also be available. Users ages 13-15 will be seen in a separate space by a c:card worker on every visit.
Criteria for becoming a c:card direct point
- an organisation which understands the importance of sexual health work
- an organisation which can demonstrate the need to supply condoms to its clients through c:card
- an agency which can promote the c:card values and work to the c:card standards
- management support within the agency for providing c:card
- commitment from staff to providing c:card
- an agency commitment to attend c:card training events
- sufficient numbers of people using/likely to use the c:card point
Criteria for becoming a c:card plus point
- an organisation which understands the importance of sexual health work
- an organisation which can demonstrate the need to supply condoms to its clients through c:card
- an agency which can promote the c:card values and work to the c:card standards
- a commitment to providing c:card for people aged 13 and over
- management support within the agency for providing c:card and delivering a specialist sexual health service for people under 16
- extensive experience of working with young people under 16
- sufficient numbers of young people under 16 using/likely to use the c:card point
- separate space available for consultations
- commitment from staff to providing c:card
- an agency commitment to attend c:card training events
Other issues to consider
- c:card points are open to users from outside the host organisation - would you be able to be open to c:card users from outside your agency?
- if not - it is possible to have condoms through the condom service rather than through c:card - contact the c:card team for more information
- is there someone within the organisation who will take on the role of c:card point co-ordinator?
- the c:card point co-ordinator is the link between the c:card team and the c:card point and is responsible for ensuring that the standards are maintained
- the co-ordinator need not be the manager of the organisation
